- Lakeridge Communication about COVID-19
- 2/28 - Black History Month and Community Potluck Night
Dear Lakeridge Families,
By now you may have seen the Superintendent’s email update that was sent on Sunday March 9th. I am sending this follow-up email to ensure that you clearly understand the impacts of that message on our school.
Consistent with the emergency proclamations declared by the City of Renton and King County in response to COVID-19, coronavirus, Renton School District is cancelling all external groups from using school district facilities through March 15th. School based programs/organizations (e.g., Right At School, PTA, BSK) will continue to be allowed to use district facilities. Only external groups that rent/use facilities for their programs are affected by the new rule. We will continue to monitor this situation and may extend facilities-use cancelations if warranted. Our “Out of School Time” after school programs at Lakeridge on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday WILL continue.
Evening School Events
Effective March 9th, information nights, STEM nights, concerts, dances, plays, etc. are cancelled through March 22nd. We will continue to monitor this situation and may extend these cancellations if warranted. We will still have our 3rd Grade Family Literacy Academy on March 18th at 8:30am. Participants experiencing any cold or flu like symptoms or fall into a high risk category should not attend.
In the event that the decision is made to close school, you will be notified using the same channels that we use for notice of other emergency closures (i.e., closures due to inclement weather). If there are any decisions made to close schools, we will inform our community immediately via SchoolMessenger, our district website, and our official social media channels: Facebook | Twitter | Instagram Please take a moment today to check that your contact information is current and your emergency contacts are updated. (It’s important to have more than one emergency contact.) Please read all communications from Lakeridge and the district.
If you know of families who have unsubscribed from SchoolMessenger, please encourage them to contact firstname.lastname@example.org or (425) 204-2345 to re-register for school and district communications.
Our decisions may change as this situation evolves. We are committed to providing you with timely and accurate updates. The district will continue to update our Coronavirus (COVID-19) page.
Please reach out to our main office at 425-204-4101 if you have any questions.
Thank you to our families who were able to attend our Black History Month Celebration & Community Potluck!
It was a fun night to gather as a community to enjoy a meal and celebrate the history, contributions and achievements of our black leaders and communities.
A special thank you to our Skyway community restaurant, Catfish Corner Express, for matching our order and donating food to our potluck.
Here at Lakeridge, we have many opportunities for volunteering ranging from 1 hour to weekly. It is important that you complete a WSP background check before you are with kids. You can pick up a form in our Main Office.
Go on a field trip with your student - you get to see someplace new, and we have more adult supervision when we are out! We have field trips throughout the year so watch for the field trip announcement coming home.
Help your student's teacher - put up bulletin boards, read with children, help with art work or cut out materials.
Help with regular events - Field day, cross guard or other special events!
Help with special events - there are evening programs that need setting up and taking down, selling concessions, managing traffic flow, answering questions.
